Revitalize the Body Politic
How to Exercise Our Rights and Re-Constitute the Constitution
“Time to pump ironies and do free press presses”
We don’t need spin doctors to tell us that the body politic is in pretty bad
shape. Electile dysfunction, truth decay, hardening of the artistries, loss of
heart. And now the body politic is losing its voice as well, as many once-active
cells are feeling like the Silenced Majority. Even mild-mannered Democrats have
gotten so frustrated that they’ve been heard to mutter the F-word when talking
about our current regime . . . you know, fascism.
The Not-See Menace
Indeed, Not-Seeism has become rampant. That is where, despite all of the
evidence, there are those who insist on not seeing the truth. And the best way
to deal with the Not-See menace is to shine enough light on the public sector
that even the blind can see through the Irony Curtain. So let’s shine the torch
of liberty worldwide by shining the light of truth here, and by each becoming a
healthy, active cell in the body politic. We need to exercise our rights, pump
ironies and do free press presses in order to build the political muscle to
counteract a regime that’s been on steroids for years.
Let’s Turn Devotees Into Votees
So let’s begin by exercising our basic rights, shall we? First of all, we must
exercise our right to vote. Those of you who decided years ago that politics was
too dirty for an angelic spiritual being like yourself, time to get over that.
Swami’s mission is to turn every devotee into a . . . votee. And let’s support
those busy moms who don’t vote because they don’t have child-care, by offering
rides and babysitting so they can vote for a more child-caring world. Remember
that we vote each and every minute with our attention, so let’s put our
attention on love, life and laughter instead of fear. Fear is the toxic
conditioning behind the current toxic conditions.
Pump Ironies to Strengthen the Body Politic
Wanna build muscle? Nothing like pumping ironies. You know those huge ironies
that we end up swallowing whole — like, for example, the Holy Land being one of
the most violent places on earth? Time to bring these into consciousness, and
use them as irony supplements to strengthen the body politic. The Irony Curtain
is built of unacknowledged ironies. Dissolve those ironies in a warm solution of
laughter, and the light will shine through. Here are a few undigested ironies to
chew on:
-
The Land of the Free has more people behind bars per capita than any other
nation in the “free world.”
-
We have a commander-in-chief who, when it was his turn to serve, didn’t
even bother finishing the light duty he was privileged to get to avoid the
heavy duty duty.
-
We’ve incarcerated, brutalized and humiliated thousands of innocent Iraqis
in the name of giving them freedom.
-
To keep the promise of “no child left behind,” our Misleader has set the
country back 20 years so we fall back to where that last poor kid is.
-
We consume 30% of the world’s resources, then spend millions trying to
lose weight.
With heavy, undigested ironies like these weighing us down, no wonder we
find ourselves gaining weightiness.
Do Free Press Presses
If Will Rogers were alive today, he’d be saying, “All I know is what I don’t
read in the papers.” If we want to restore integrity to government so that
lie-ability is no longer an asset, we must press the press to tell the truth. We
recommend doing phone-ups and free press presses at least three times a week.
Call your local newspaper editor and TV stations and ask them to uncover the
cover-ups. Email stories from truthout.com, and ask them to put it on the front
page. If you get your truthful news online, support these sources financially —
put your money where your mouse is!
With Two Strong Wings, We Can Reap a World Win
A balanced body politic needs two strong wings to fly right. Right now, we have
one very strong right wing — and we are flying wrong. But just because the Right
is wrong, that doesn’t make the Left right. The eagle needs the wisdom of both
wings to soar. That’s why we need more forums, and fewer againstums. In each
community, folks from all across the political spectrum need to get together and
see what they’re all “for.” Imagine, all sides working together for the common
good, weaving a web of mass construction to make the commonwealth uncommonly
wealthy.
But Seriously, Folks . . . Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts
absolutely. They say secrecy protects all of us, but mainly secrecy protects
those who have something to hide.
So . . . do you believe we have to be international bullies and gangsters to
thrive in the new century? Is this what our legacy is — making the world a
bitter place?
Or do we deserve a government we can trust that stands by example as a beacon
for democracy?
Time to become proactionaries, and earn our own No Bull Prize.
